New XJ, old Head, will it work?
Hello all, I'm kinda new here. I have a 2000 XJ that has a cracked head. I've heard the 0331 heads are junk. I agree. The only heads I can find around here are either 0331 heads or older. Will an older head work? Is the only difference that there's nowhere to mount the coil rail? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Update. I picked up a 97 head for my 2000 Cherokee yesterday. I've been told it will work just fine. you have to use the 2000 gaskets and figure out how to mount the coil rail and ground it. I was told to use plumbers tape, and put it from the coil rail bolts to the valve cover studs. and bolt it down. I torqued the head down yesterday. When I mount the coil rail I will post some pictures. Hopefully it will help someone, someday.
