Default New Process 207 Front Driveshaft Question

Hey all. Had a knocking noise coming from my transfer case in 4x4 so I replaced the chain. The old chain was way worn and I figured that replacing it would solve my knock (gets faster with acceleration ONLY in 4x4HI and LO) but it didn't. It sounds like it is coming from my front drive shaft (popsicle stick inside the beer can looking deal) area. I have replaced the front U-joint- could this be ANOTHER U-join INSIDE of the beer can thing? I can take the front drive shaft in my hand and wiggle it up and down a little bit only in the rear that connects to the beer can. I posted this in modified tech because I have a 4.5" lift- but it had this same problem at stock height. This is a 1984 New Process 207 case that I do not want to spend money to get another case and swap out.

Anything helps!!!!

Thanks in advance,

SO I went to a local drive shaft shop... they had this short u joint yoke and they are making me a front double cardan driveshaft!!! total cost-$400 with a lifetime warranty. Fixes the binding, and I can go up another 2 inches when I change my gearing haha.

Wish I saw this thread earlier. You honestly could of swapped in a 231 yoke on your 207 and shortened an Explorer front driveshaft. All junkyard stuff and easy to do.

I had actually looked into doing that, except with a later Cherokee front drive shaft, but I had some extra $$ laying around with a hankering for something new and shiny to get dirty haha. But I appreciate knowing you would have helped out!
