Default new engine(stroker) runs rough after 2500

My stroker is running and my cam broke in. I went to go seat the rings but the engine wouldn't run good after 2500. Thought it was the distributor even though I thought I got it perfect. Its way off now but ill find it in the morning as per the manual. Is there anything else that would cause this? Injectors are good. Gas rail pressure is good. Idled fine when it started.

Mine ran about the same after I fried my 02 sensor on a trail. Might look into that.

the manual gives you two methods to drop the distributor... I found when I did my cam that the alignment pin method will not work, kept putting me a tooth off. had to use the point the rotor at number 1 method.

K so I put the distributor back in where it idles good. When I floored it, it backfired once out the exhaust and once out the intake. still wont rev past 2500. slow or fast. is that still a symptom of being a tooth off? I tried moving it a tooth advanced and It didn't run. I tried retarding it a tooth last Night (it was late so I might not have got it)

Any Ideas?

K I retarded it one tooth and It idles better a little, but still, cant get past 2500. The engine is down right mean until 2000-2500 then its like its not getting enough air or fuel, or its not sparking. its weird. Sensor maybe?

do you have access to a timing light? I know the timing is not adjustable, but it's a way to verify if the distributor is dropped right. How is the wear pattern looking on the drop gear? What injectors did you use?

Yes I do. I'll use it today. Drop gear?? Neon 703 (23#) checked them all before installing. All~ 12ohm or whatever they were supposed to be at.

How about this. My crank didn't have a key way so my balancer is just pressed on and the timing mark is off when I'm at tdc.
