Default New Cherokee Project Suggestions

So I just picked up an incomplete project Cherokee. It's a '92 with the AX-15 and NP231, Dana 30 front and Dana 35 (where the Chrysler 8.25 should be) I took the guy's word for it when I picked this thing up that the rear axle was what he said it was and I couldnt drive it very far because the rear brakes kept locking up so I was never able to really test the 4x4.

Anyway, got it home and figured out that it actually had the Dana 35, then checked ratio - it's a 3.55. Then realized I better check the front ratio since the Manual Cherokee's came with 3.07. Sure enough I've got 3.07 in the front and 3.55 in the rear.

Question is: since the ratio is better in the rear, even with the crappier axle should i swap out the rear axle with one has 3.07 to match front OR swap out the front with one that has 3.55...Keep in mind I'm on thin ice with the wife at this point and on a limited budget.

so now you'll never get to test the 4x4 haha
it all depends. what tires are you planning on running and what terrain will you drive over

This is going to be mainly a trail rig, nothing super hardcore but mainly trails. I'm in Arizona so rocky, dry stuff. This thing runs strong with the 3.55's in the rear and I'm hesitant to switch to 3.07. I've got 33"s on it, I'm thinking if I just take it easy I'll keep the D35 and swap out the front axle for one with the 3.07...

Dana makes good products. Most people don't ask of their Jeep what we do, and the D35 is good for most cases.

The D44 is a great axle, as well as several others.

I just located an axle from an '88 Cherokee with auto trans, from what i can tell it should have the 3.55 because of the auto trans. Any input about that year Dana 30? Will it bolt right up?
