Ran it for years and it was perfect, roughly 16mpg around town, not much highway driving.

I have a 92 with the AW4 that is my daily driver and just went from 3.55s and 31's to 4.10s and 33x12.50's. I would go 4.56 in a heartbeat. My current setup is not much better than what I originally had with the old setup.
The only reason I didn't is because I bought the axles complete with the gears and lockers already installed.

In short, go with the 4.56s.

I run 33s with 4.56s on my daily driver(6 cyl,AW4). It's an awesome combo. Still gets about the same MPGs that I got in stock form and feels like it has a little more torque than stock. I think it depends on your plans for it. If mine was going to see more trail than street, I would have went with 4.88s.

If you go too deep, you can always "fix" it with even bigger tires
