Default Need help with driveshaft lengths

Hi i have a 1997 xj with a 6.5 inch lift and sye. Ive measured the shaft lengths, front being 32 inches and rwar being 33 inches. A friend of mine said to just get 2 stock front shafts and id be fine, but i read they measure 30.66" compressed. A local shop told me they would reccomend a zj shaft, because they are heavier and longer. Any help would be appreciated, im in limber mode because i dont want to spend 600 on tom woods shafts if i dont have too, but definitely dont wanna have to change shafts after every adventure adventure. Thanks Charles

Using a stock front XJ shaft in the rear of a lifted XJ is very common. I haven't heard of using a ZJ shaft, but that doesn't mean it wouldn't work. Is there something wrong with both of your shafts? If so, I would go to a JY and get two front shafts, then replace the u-joints and rebuild the centering ball. If it's not long enough for the rear, have a shop lengthen the shaft a little. Keep in mind though that rebuilding shafts can get pricey if you use good parts. Personally I would be thinking about going with an Adams or a Tom Wood.

That's certainly different. The information stays the same though.
