If you convert to an open cooling system then yes, you can use anything you want as an overflow bottle.

This is the same thread that Troy Fritzz or what ever his name started. All I have to say is what you did (although you did it well) IS NOT A SNORKLE that is plane and simple. You rased your intake 4-5" that is not a snorkle. What you did is a COWL INTAKE. You did a good job at it no need to lie and call it a snorkle. Be proud of what you have done and don't try to pass it off as something it is clearly not. If you want to call it a snorkle you should call your 4.0 a 4.7 and your D30 a D60 and your 8.25 a D60 your np231 a dabbler and your 35's a set of 52's. You get the point???????????? Don't lie. Be proud of what you did. This is a snorkle that goes through the cowl or a cowl snorkle.

Anyone run a tube straight from the throttle body into the cowl and put a cone filter in there? I know it's tight but can it be done?

yes it's been done, but why would you want to? That would suck to have to take off the cowl every time you wanted to change/clean the filter. Plus it is WAY more susceptible to water/moisture in the cowl than in the engine bay.

Yea I was just thinking about that when I was on the can where I do most of my thinkin. Rain isnt a problem because it doesn't rain here but I do like splashing. Looks like i'm getting the old stock airbox out of storage and doing it the right way. Thanks.
