does your steering wheel go off center when it pops?
it could be your track bar or track bar bracket.

tie rod ends don't usually "pop" loud enough to hear it, but the track bar does.

track bar or ball joints. You need someone to turn the wheel so you can see what moves. I bet the axle shifts when it clunks and the track bar is moving

Do you have an auto front locker? I do and if I get water in it it pops like crazy at about half turn. Then I change the diff fluid and it's all good again.

Track bar, or broken steering box spacer is where I would start. Then check the ball joints and axle joints

Had to change diff fluid last time my steering poped, into this

Kind of ironic isn't it, draining a pumpkin into a pumpkin? lol

that is pretty funny.
I cant figure out what a locker has to do with turning at a stand still, but if it works go with it.

I think you're all looking a bit too hard at this one. The key words were "Rough Country lift..."

When did you get the lift? RC x-flex joints are notorious for having crappy internals. If you bought the lift new, call RC and tell them you need new bushings. If you're not the original purchaser, spend the 200 bucks and get Johnny Joints from Currie.

I can't figure it out either but it has happened 4x's so far and every time it's good after I change the diff fluid. Go figure! It will do it if I'm going or stopped when there's water in it. Maybe sand getting in there too?

weird. but hey if it works.
and yeah good call on the rough country joints.
No matter what someone is going to have to steer while someone looks over the suspension to find the clunk. But that adds a very viable reason to the mix
