Default is my 8.25 a 27 or 29 spline?

Is there any way to tell if my chrysler 8.25 is a 27 or 29 spline? Other than pulling the shafts?

The factory LSD is decent if it has new clutches in it, half worn and it works just like an open carrier. And the clutches seem to wear fairly quickly.

No. I doubt it will even be worth the hassle.

Keep in mind you'll need to have the gears set up if you put in a LSD so factor in that cost as well. Depending on where you go it could cost more for that than what you want to spend on the carrier.

Not hard with the right tools and knowledge but if it isn't right you get to buy new gears.

I'm grabbing a 29 spline 8.25 with lsd to replace my 27 spline open 8.25 for now until I find a suitable D44. For $100 off a buddy of mine, I think it's a good upgrade.

Quick Reply: is my 8.25 a 27 or 29 spline?
