Default move the rear axle back?

Ok so what do you guys and galls think of me moving the back axle back between 4 and 6 inches? Right now my drive shaft is very unhappy with its angle, I have a new longer drive shaft I can swap in and I need to run new brake lines any way, is there anything im over looking? How will a longer wheel base effect flex and offroad performance? Any thoughts are appreciated

Ever think about installing a slip yoke eliminator(SYE) or a Hack n Tap. That will solve your drive shaft angle problem. Of course you will need a longer than stock drive shaft. A front drive shaft will work also. If you move your axle back you will be moving the tire out away from the center of the wheel well which will limit travel and cause some body damage. Plus you will need newer leafs or need to relocate the shackles. IMO the SYE and Hack n tap is the way to go! If not the only way to go.

Or you could just turn your leaf springs around and gain like 4 or 5"s of wheel base. I'm planning on doing the same thing to mine this weekend. As for the wheelwell problem, I'm just gonna go ahead and comp cut the quarters. I love that look anyway. May not be the best idea though if its your DD.

Ranger leafs work as well for extending wheelbase

you need to think about

upper shock mounts
fuel tank needs relocating
wheel wells need to be trimmed then pieced back together to seal it up again (comp cut)
brake line is an easy fix but you wont have parking brakes

and a few other odds and ends

Here's a little info I neglected to mention im building a killer roll cage that the shocks are going to mount to my tank leaks around the center line its my 3rd tank so im just putting a fuel cell in the back and I was planning on doing a dove tail rear so u might as well move the wells when I do it as for the sye hack and tap it will still have the existing problem

is the problem the angle? i have around 10 in of lift and i did the sye and cv shaft and no vibes from driveline at all up to 75 or 80 when i do hit the hiway. and i am still in the stock location in the wheel well. with all that you are doing the wheel well thing may not be an issue.
