Default motor question

what's up guys, I have a 96 cherokee 5 speed, I was wondering if I got the motor out of a 97 automatic would it fit in mine? I know from 96 to 97 the body style changed but did the motor? the one I'm interesting in buying on has 80000 on it and that's a steal! I don't wanna pass it up because my motor is shot and I need to get back in the woods I'm going through withdraw lol, much appreciated!

It'll fit. Use all your intake/exhaust, distributor, flexplate/flywheel and sensors.
