Default MOAB Wheel, HELP!

Alright guys so I'm pretty much in the dark about lift and tire size stuff since I havent lifted my XJ Yet but I plan too soon. Anyways I got a hell of a deal on a set of 5 17 inch MOAB Wheels off of a JK. Anyways I planned on doing the 1.5 OME lift kit because this jeep is my daily and I dont do much heavy wheeling. Anywasy my question is will I be able to use the 17 in MOAB wheels with like a 30 inch tire...? Thats what the kit says it allows for. I guess what I'm asking is what is the lowest lift/tire combo I should go for? I dont want it too be too big, but I dont want it to look silly with the rims being too big for the tires too you know? Just trying to keep it simple. Thanks guys!

Is your question will 30" tires fit on a 1.5" lift? Yes, they should.

Is your question will 30" tires look ridiculous on a 17" rim on an XJ? Yes, they will.

Is your question will JK rims fit on an XJ in the first place? No, you need adapters/spacers for the new bolt pattern.

I know they'll fit, I also know about the adapters. I'm just wondering what the lowest tire size is will they won't look stupid haha. I can choose my lift from there. What stock size tired did they come with?

Unless you got the rims for free i would pass on them,Good adapters are not cheap around 200 bucks don't buy the ebay specials they will break or sheer off lugs. You can get moab knock off in a 16 that fits http://www.quadratec.com/products/92615_210X_PG.htm
Or a close knock off in 17 http://www.quadratec.com/products/92615_1X10_PG.htm

I mean there's nothing wrong with good spacers/adapters but the cheapo ones are trouble waiting,I have seen them sheer off lugs or have a stud that comes lose and just spins in the hole.Or even walk around and widen the holes they are in.If you get one the stud just spins in the hole then you gotta cut the rim off.The other thing a lot of garages now won't put a adapter/spacer back on for legal reasons.

Here's an 01 with 17" Moab wheels, 31" tires and a 3" lift.

This is the setup I'd go with if possible. As you can see, even a 3" lift on a Cherokee doesn't really make it look like a lifted vehicle, it brings it up to a normal height for an SUV.

Not Jk wheels but this is a RE 3.5" lift with 31.9 aka 32" tires. Rims are 17x9. No trimming and Have had no issues at all with them.
