mix & match steering knuckes
I got a set of chevy steering knuckles for my dana 44 build and it turns out that only the driver side knuckle is a flat top.
Can I just find another chevy flat top passenger side knuckle and swap it out for the non flat top knuckle? Or do I need to keep them paired.
Ive only read on one site and no where else that you shouldn't mix/match steering knuckles cause of alignment issues.
Please HELP!

Yeah that's the site that said to keep your knuckles paired and don't mix and match.
That just doesn't sound right to me. I can understand if you have one chevy knuckle and one ford knuckle. I get not to combine those two.

If both are flat tops you may get away with it but if you used the factory steering position you could run into problems because they can be at different heights. Also some will set the brakes and or spindle at different spots and could move your axle in or out and you may end up having to use different stub shafts.

I'm building a custom high pinion dana 44 for the front of my XJ. Using Chevy knuckles and spindles and brakes. As well as, Ford 5x5.5 rotors and hubs.
It will not have hi steer or crossover steering or anything like that. Its just a basic front axle build with 3" x .5" axle tubes. Im using the rubicon express axle bracket kit as well
