Sadly, my Jeep might be done for. The frame rails have rusted to the point where the transmission crossover support has separated completely on the passenger side and partially on the driver side as well. I took it to a welding shop that agreed to take it on, found and bought a replacement crossmember in new condition, and a set of 3/16" thick Frame Stiffeners for the project (basically new, way thicker frame rails that are to be welded over the original unibody frame rails), and then AFTER I spent that money, the welder changed his mind and said he wouldn't work on it as he thinks it's too far gone. I want to find a second welding shop somewhere in the Chicago area to at least get a second opinion, but it's not looking good. Any suggestions out there? Mechanically, my Jeep is in very good condition. I HATE the thought of sending it to the boneyard.
