I think this is probably a good idea. Ceramic microballoons could also be used with the added advantage of thermal insulation

One pretty major benefit of the ceramic microsheres though is it would make the coating harder and more durable. It could possibly make the liner stand up to more abuse which I could see being really nice especially for the rear cargo area.
Just my thoughts on it.

So the ceramic spheres take away all of the benefits except durability? The whole point of using the microballoons (in this case) is to reduce the amount of noise in the cabin along with cut down on vibrations. The durability really doesn't seem to be affected by adding the microballoons, and it could be made even more durable with an extra coat or two of liner. I'm still thinking the glass seems better.

Do a couple coats with ceramic for heat on top of a few glass for noise. Haha.
Thanks for the info GRohr.
Even with just the herculiner, I had no problems with heat.

Or lay ceramic, then glass, then ceramic, then just liner. And while your at it, lay some carbon fiber sheeting down. Ultimate subframe stiffener.

The glass worked great for me. Cheap, effective and easy. As long as you use a durable liner, you should have no problems.

Agreed. I did not realize the ceramic micro was solid spheres. If it's solid then it's not much better than sand. But it is used as an insulation barrier; mixed into paint.

Do you have to herculine after you do the GMB's mixed with paint? Couldnt you just leave it the way it is, then replace the carpet?

Just wanted to post back and so far, it is still holding up fine! Even with a blast from a pressure washer and a bunch of tools/feet etc. sliding around on it.

Off topic, but I think when I was young we had rocks to protect us from the ground.

Those rubber pieces would require alot of Bedliner around it... its pretty dry stuff. Back when I worked the govt, we had to use it on playgrounds and would get flatbeds with pallets of it. Cool.thing though, you cam get it in almost any color and a couple different sizes. Might show through the Bedliner for a speckled type look. Its pretty cheap but I dont know anywhere to buy a little bit.

Also the rubber mulch comes with a really fine dust on it always so you and have to wash it a couple of times first before trying to get anything to stick to it.
