Matte White Paint job
Uh, there is such thing as very unique, if I painted my Jeep matte white, I'd be one of a few that has, with that, it makes it very unique. To correct you, One-of-a-kind is something that has only been done "1" time. I didn't say mine would be one-of-a-kind, just different and unique.
Unique:
particularly remarkable, special, or unusual
Does this mean that only one thing can be unique? Nope, several can be.
Nice definition though, urban dictionary?

wow, really guys, Practical application here, what color is the 'pin stripes' on your jeep? usually a form of white or gray, NO I am not talking about the painted on ones I am talking about the tree limb scratches. A flat white paint job would help to hide those. not to mention if its rattle can then just go to wal-mart and buy more. I like flat paint jobs they are simple and easy to maintain. If you want your jeep flat white i say GO FOR IT. and it may be different, or very unique, or even one of a kind in your area. and if you like to mall crawl then great if you like to go off road... Great! Its your jeep have fun with it. I plan on doing both with mine. Take it to the mall park it next to a BMW and see who worries about the dings. I am doing mine in camouflage and I will post pics when i am done. and guess what it will be just another camouflage jeep but UNIQUE in my neck of the woods because its in the Urban style. any way my .02 do what you want i think it would be cool especially looking at the flat white parts that are already painted on mine.
Carnutcertifies, By far the best response in these very simple set of questions. It's people like you that make forums fun and interesting. Thanks for the info and some great insight!!! I'd like to see pics of your project with your Jeep!!

People are going to hate I'm sure but I don't care cause she's MINE and I spent my hard earned money on it. Had my XJ for 2 years and spent money on things that needed fixed and I've really gotten to know her and love her quirks over the years.
WTH it's your XJ love it and it will love you back. And as far as matte white?
Why not? I'm going for a blackout theme with mine so with that being said, Its your XJ.
You could even say you wanted to paint your turd brown with bits of corn painted on it too and call it "POS".
Not my cup of tea but whatever, It's not mine lol.
Well said Unknown XJ, your two cents is much appreciated. I have seen a couple of trucks that have bedliner for their paint job. Very tough looking and extremely durable and scratch resistant. I'd also like to see your pics when you finish your project. As I said when I was trying to justify my matte white paint job earlier in the thread, do I really have to do stuff to my Jeep that will make it go faster or jump higher? LOL, nope, if I wanna change the color, it's totally up to me. It's the beauty of being an individual and having something that is going to set you apart from the rest. It's the whole reason I joined this forum, to discuss with other fellow Jeep owners on what they do and are planning on doing to their ride. Not to be bashed because I ask some easy questions to answer. If you want to be an idiot, go post on someone elses thread because I don't have time for that childish stupidity.

I go back and forth between my love for flat black, white, or grey paint jobs. They look nice for a little while. How do you combat how easily the matte paint soaks in oil?
You seal it.
My TJ is matte black and olive drab. My XJ will also get the matte treatment, likely khaki and black. Krylon.
I've considered matte white since I live in the arctic circle, but it just doesn't look right to me. It also takes a lot more work to remove imperfections compared to darker colors.
