Master Cylinder Upgrade
It DID lessen your braking power........................
I'd be willing to bet money that your increase in braking performance came from flushing out all your old fluid, and replacing it with fresh fluid................
Brake fluid absorbs a considerable amount of water over a period of a few years, and will have a big affect on pedal feel.............
Why do you think it's possible to lift an entire vehicle with a few quick movements of your arm, with very little force required, with a hydraulic jack.
The slave piston (the cylinder that actually does the lifting) is HUGE compared to the master (the tiny little piston that you actuate with the jack handle)
These same hydraulic principles apply to a hydraulic brake system, and a hydraulic clutch system.....................

Having run high performance sports cars, I can tell you that keeping good fluid in the system is important and makes a difference in braking power.
Every 30,000 miles, the system should be bled.

The two things that have me brand new feeling brakes was changing the maintenance I did a few weeks back. Bled lines to change fluid out and greased the slide pins. Stops so much better when that maintenance is done
