lunchbox in a d30 install question
Installing a lunchbox lockrite in a d30 with 355 gears doesn't need the carrier removed I heard. Is this correct? Just pull axles diff cover and pop it in?

You will have to get the lock screw out to get the pin out and spider gears. Don't know if the carrier has to be removed to do that.

You shouldn't have to take the carrier out. D30's have a roll pin holding the cross shaft in, might have to "make" a punch to knock it out, cheap long flathead screw driver worked for me. Just cut off the flathead.

Technically you can install it without removing the carrier if you dont mind grinding down some ring gear teeth, but in my opinion it is better to just remove the carrier. I personally prefer to pull the carrier, remove the ring gear and do it right. It is also much easier to put it all together with the carrier sitting on a bench. The last one I did I removed the carrier and it only took me about an hour total.
