Lowering kit

Lowering kit
I'd like to go the performance route on my XJ and do something similar to the RangeRover Sport. Anyone know if a suspension lowering kit is available? Its 1996 Classic already has the inline 6, and standard shift with 4x4. I'm slowing upgrading bits and replacing failed parts as I need, but would like to do the lowering at some point.

easiest way to drop it would be to move the leaf springs from over the rear axle to under it, and cut coils one at a time out of the front so it sits level. cutting the coils will stiffen up the ride quite a bit. you can adjust the height in the rear by running longer shackles.
There is a cherokee that runs in the 24 hours of LeMons race that does extremely well, they have a build thread over on NAXJA, the team is called petty cash racing. They routinely beat 5.0 mustangs out of the corners and handle much better than even some of the older bmws that also run the circuit.
here is their youtube channel with lots of in car footage, there is basically nothing bust suspension work done to this rig and it does very well.

tj coils are good for an inch or so lower in front. in back swapping to a spring under axle setup will lower you about 5 inches and you will be resting on the bumpstops. if you go that route you will have to get more arch out of the leaf packs.

Thanks guys, I haven't seen a Honda with an inline 6 and 4x4. The reason I bought a Jeep is because I don't like the Nipponese $#!*
Not sure I want to go as low as swapping the axle to over the spring. I still want it to be reasonably comfortable on the road. Was thinking a small 1-2" lower at most.
I love the Jeep racer though, that is cool as #
