what if you were to cut a set of bronco coils. they have a higher spring rate, and shouldn't bounce around as much.
you don't want to remove leafs, it will bounce around a lot.
maybe go with a set of comanche leafs and go spring under. i know they're longer, but haven't tried using them in a cherokee.
you will of course have to weld on a spring perch under the axle.
comanche has a different width between springs, or i'd say just get an mj axle.
keep it stiff so you loose body roll. it may ride like a tank, but it's not for comfort anyways.
and go with a stroker. you want to keep the stock 6 to keep them fooled.

i am doing this to my 92 for a "car"... i am gonna try a cut bronco spring like above mentioned for the higher spring rate...also thinking ladder bar/ coil rear as i am gonna try to auto cross it and i want the ability to make the *** not so squishy and still get it lower
@ 5-90
cutting coils is not always a problem... I personally would not do it
it really becomes a problem when the spring rate is progressive and cutting the coil removes the lower rate... then the shorter coil will also bottom out the shocks...
the issue is not the cut coils, the issue is all the other thing that are not addressed on the truck...

It's just a cheap way to achieve a certain "look" - that compromises safety. And it's a flat dumb idea.

did you know back in the day on the late 80s BMW e28 cars, the guys would cut one coil off the front (lowering it around 1.25") and they would keep up with porsches in the corners...

You might want to talk to the guys with Team Petty Cash ... They're a Seattle based team competing in the 24 Hours of LeMons national racing series in a 2WD Jeep Cherokee we purchased for $200. They recently won 1st place in class.

In addition to the info provided at the links above, I bet they'd answer more questions. There's a photo floating around somewhere showing the XJ passing a Miata on the course.

I find it moderately unlikely that BMW springs could be cut and improve handling, but odder things have happened.
However, nine times out of then, if you cut the springs you've made a Superball. It's not worth the trouble.
