Default A monkey wrench thrown into the Low COG thread

I'm going Ice racing!!
Yep, up here in the Great White North with 10 months of hockey and 2 months of lousy skating, we've invented a new Automotive sport.
Ice Racing.
Take any AWD or 4X4, put a cage and studded (or shredded tread?) tires on it, pour a lot of water over a dirt track and go racing when it freezes.
My buddy and I went to some races in the past few weeks up in Minden Ontario. We did not see any Jeep product racing at all!
What no Jeeps? The inventors of 4 wheel drive did not have a representative. Although a Eagle Talon was cleaning up. Almost double lapped the slow guys (A Volvo 740?)
Anyways after way too many brown pops my bud and I decided his 99 rig "Stacey" was causing him way too many problems. He found a 01 5 speed to take her place and now we have a victim errr volunteer for the 2016 racing season.

The question is then, what modifications do you think we`ll need to make (and how) to our 99 to make it lower and faster while still retaining the 4 wheel drive. Please remember this is a budget racer. I already know the safety mods will set us back at least a grand (roll cage, seats, 5 point harness etc).
Happy Racing!

Anybody have any insight on what spring rates would be good for a 2" King coilover? Primary and secondary. Mainly for trailing/crawling. No extra weight as far as winches, bumpers, racks etc. It will be a one ton setup on a 91 XJ. Or where I could find some info that's not super confusing? Lol! Thx.

you're going to have to get the corner weights of your rig once it's built to get an idea of what you need. your best bet may be to go onto pirate and find a jeep built identical to yours and see what spring rates they're running.

this isn't really a question that you're going to find an answer for in the LOWcog thread on cherokeeforum

start searching http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/83-jeep-cherokee/

Would anybody consider 4" on 33s lcog? surely it's not as high as 6.5"s but not as big as on 35s.

So if I want the most down travel possible, can I put LCAs from a 6" lift on a 4.5" lift? I alreadt plan on running 6" lift shocks, but not sure about the LCAs

I'd get quality adjustable arms. Or long arms.
Also, new plan 4" 35s i'm getting closer.

LCA length is lift height dependent. It's a critical dimension to put the suspension in the correct location and allow it to cycle straight.

LCAs meant for 6" will not add any down travel and only screw up your suspension geometry.

Also 6" lift shocks will probably have a body that is too long for a 4.5" lift and you'll bottom them out often.

Part of it is the ground isn't level there, I think 1.5" shackles with an extra main leaf and the Ford 8.8 is what consists of my 3ish inches of lift. Plus I have a full size spare and tools etc in the back.

Sorry, I'm going to do a no-no and just ask without searching extensively. Planning on 35's and a 4.5-5.5 long arm eventually(maybe next year). I need to replace the tie rods, drag link and maybe the track bar ASAP(pretty bad death wobble(already did ball joints)). I prefer not to buy something again next year for the lift, so does anyone have suggestions what I should buy for upgrades? Thinking about one of Rusty's LA kits, but not 100% decided.
