Low COG question
Im ordering the RC 3" series II lift tomorrow. One mod that i am making to it is switching the 3" shocks with the shocks that come with the 4.5" lift. My reasoning behind this is that i am going to run 33's so i am going to have to bumpstop alot as it is, so i am going to run the 4.5" lift shocks to increase my down travel. I just wanted to see if anyone has ran this setup. Im pretty sure it will work i just wanted to hear your opinions.

You will want to ensure the shocks to not bottom out before your bumpstops. You will ruin your shocks that way.
You will also need to bumpstop a fair amount to keep the 33's out of the sheet metal of the front fender and pinch seam.
It is 'somewhat' OK to allow the shocks to limit flex when drooped, but even that is not very good for the shock long term. It is better to use shocks with the proper amount of compression and travel.
IF you have enough droop when disconnected having excessive flex can also allow the coil to become unseated and NOT return to the upper mount correctly after. This could cause issues on the trail as well.
That being said, many shocks are sold for a range of lift not a specific lift.

Correct way to fit shocks is measure mounting point to mounting point. Then measure how much up travel the bump stop will allow and subtract that from the total length. I'm using shock pin adapters..20$ from polyperformance. They make it possible to use damn near any shock. I'm buying pro comp 3000 with 12-3/4" cans for the front. The bump stop will stop articulation before the shock bottoms out. My problem is I could probably shorten my bumpstops but for now it should be perfect.
