Looking for a winch mount similar to this
Anyone know what winch mount he might be using, or one that is similar?
I want to put an 8k on my daily driven XJ, and will be keeping the stock bumper for sure.

I don't really see the detours as an option, since it makes the winch stick way out. I like the one pictured in the video because it's totally inconspicuous. I might have to just make something up. I am surprised no one sells anything like that. Perhaps the market really wants huge plate bumpers and stick out winches... I don't, though.

Most folks custom make them. There's one or two companies that make a lo-pro bumper with the winch mounted on the back.
I don't too much care for these but here they are.

I don't see why you couldn't fabricate a mount and lay the OEM bumper skin back over it. I've thought about doing that a couple times. It's be pretty easy to do.

That's not a bad idea, really. Thanks lowrange2. Wish someone would made those with the ability to bolt up the stock bumper skin as an option or built right in. I love the way the Cherokees look stock, and they are unassuming when unmodified. Would love to be able to flip down the license plate and expose a nice winch.

I've never liked that mount because it pushes the bumper so far forward.
By removing the OEM crossmember you could fit it behind the OEM bumper very easily.

Yeah. I'm picking up a welder today and will embark on this journey.
I will make all information available for personal use, including engineered drawings.
If there is interest, I will find a local production shop and do group buys.
I expect to finish the project by end of September.
I plan to use the XRC8 as the basis for the install.
