I want to apologize in advance if this subject has been posted before, but I did a search couldn't find anything.
As I posted I'm looking into getting an ARB for my 97 XJ Dana 44 with 4.88 gears. Do I have to pull the axle and get a spline count first? Are there different splines on Jeep 44's? Right now it's got a Detroit locker front and rear. It's a handfull on the road to the point I don't feel safe with my daughter driving it alone. That's beside the 1/4 of revolution slop in the lash that drives me nuts every time I let off the gas peddle and get back on it as it clunks. It never seems to lock evenly, so the jeep tends to want to go a different direction initially if get off and back the throttle. Anyone know any details on the which ARB?
Thanks for any suggestions in advance.

Are you doing just the front, or both ?
As you know the ratio, Google should answer what is the pinion and crown wheel counts
Are you doing the job? If not, the shop who is should be able to either advise you, or just get the right parts themselves
Presumably you are aware you need the compressor, switches, harness etc ?
Ther is a "break ratio" and that will be identified on the ARB website by their specs and part number

Are your driving in 4wd on the road? If not then it shouldn't be a handful at all, I have driven on the road with auto lockers in multiple vehicles for years and they have all done great on the road. I wouldn't put an ARB in the rear axle if it was free.
