Default longer shackles and no added lift?

please tell me if my thinking is skewed. with 6.5" lift springs and stock shackles, the flex in the rear of my jeep plain sucks. I know a big part of it is that the shacle is too short for the arch of the spring to flatten out.
I would add a longer shackle but I dont want any added height.
The leaves seem pretty stiff as it is so Im thinking about removing a leaf or 2 from the pack and adding a longer shackle. The only downside I really see is axle wrap.
Any thoughts or other ideas are welcomed.

What your looking for in a shackle is angle... roughly 45 degrees in the stock direction... when u add a full spring pack to the rear with stock shackles then your shackle angle sucks... to fix it you add longer shackles which in turn means more lift... or you move you stock shackle location.... with relocation brackets...

Did your 6.5in springs come in a lift kit or were they purchased individually?

they came in a "kit" that would work much better with a 4.5 spring and shackles. I would like to try and avoid serious modifications if I can. and the angle its self on the shackle isnt all that bad, there just isnt enough arch in the shackle swing to let the spring compress. So Im thinking even relocating the shackle isnt going to solve my problem.

If they came in a kit then there 4.5in leaf springs and would have 2in shackles...

maybe Im not looking at it right either, Im thinking more about compression that droop. relocating the shackle forward would definitely get more droop, but no more compression, maybe less actually, but if I move it forward and can fit a little longer shackle that might work out

yeah, not all that impressed. re-doing a lot. It just kills me that I think it had more flex in the rear stock
edit: I wonder if a boomerang shackle would help

People are starting to dip away from those... they have a nasty unloading feature... create good flex but gotta be careful and expect the unloading that sometimes happens... I've got some 4.5 re springs and shackles for sale lol

not the revolver shackles. just the curved ones, but i just did some reading and those arent going to do anything over a longer shackle.
Trade your stuff for some 6.5"s lol.
looks like I will most likely be moving the shackles
