I haven't found a thread dedicated to this so if there is one could someone please link me. I want to make some long arms when I come back from my trip next week. I know of 3 types: y link, 3 link and 4 link, What are your opinions on the best type and why? Pros and cons? thanks for any info!

1st: 3 link
2nd: 4 link
3rd: y link
Y link is cheap and easy, that's why it is the most commonly offered from companies.
4 link it better than y link but still binds
3 link is the best. Best performance, simple and bind free.
If you are going to make one, do a 3 link.
There is a very detailed thread out there about this but I don't feel like looking.

Edit: if in your research, you come across a thread where some dude used black pipe for links, ignore that crap. Dude is a moron. Use at least .025 DOM for the lowers. No sense in wasting the money on light weight garbage.

A 3 link is the way to go. Loved the one my buddy built for my last XJ.
A radius setup is most common, 2 lower arms with frame mounted points, and the upper links come off the lower links and run to the axle.
4 link has 4 seperate links (technically a 4 link is a 5 link with the inclusion of a panhard)...
3 link has 2 lowers, 1 upper.
Also there is a triangulated 4 link...where a panhard isnt needed. But hard to package in a triangulated 4 in an xj.
I did a driverside 3 link, and loved it.
