Powertrax, Aussie Locker, No-Slip. These are all "lunchbox" lockers, that said, if you have a LSD you would have to replace the carrier to an open type.

Eaton E-Lockers are cheaper. I'm biased tho. I work for Eaton.

I'd suggest a lunchbox locker for you as well. The lunch box locker won't require you to have the gears set up again.

You can also get a full carrier detroit for 2/3s the price of an ARB.

I will add this, I have Aussies front and rear on my Tacoma, the only downfall is for the jeep axles they have a long lead time, I haven't checked in a while being I'm jeepless for now, but as stated they are under $300. If you have the NP 242 (Full Time 4WD Option) you cant use the FT option with a lunchbox style locker.

There should be a sticker in the the glove box about adding friction modifier. You can get the build sheet from Jeep, or pop open the diff cover.
https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f2/axle-problem-125404/ scroll to the pic it shows how they look different. Jack up rear, and spin one tire, if open the other will turn the opposite way, LSD both will turn the same way.

All i've ever heard is that welding them together is deff not a good idea. In all reality can it be done if its done right? Will it hold up in a dd?

Powertrax no slip is a good lunchbox locker for a DD. It's synchronized, silent, and have saddle springs to cut down on gear slop with standards or stop and go traffic with autos. I wouldn't go with a lockrite. I've broken 3 of them
