Default locker question/ratio question

So, I am rebuilding my jeep and in the process I plan to put in a RC 6.5" lift and run 35s. I'm already replacing the D35 with a ford 8.8. I want to be able to drive the jeep to where I hunt/wheel which is usally 2-3hrs away, highway. Would it be wise to put a locker in and drive that much on the highway? or should i just keep it open diff? Second, I'm thinking of regearing 4.10 or 4.56, which would be better for 35s?

Thanks

I would go with 4.56s if your going to be running 35s. Also you could put a limited slip in instead of a locker.

4.56 with a manual
4.88 with an auto

A lunch box locker or a full case locker will unlock in a turn as long as you're not on the gas. A selectable will only be locked when you want it locked.

Whether you put a locker in or not really depends on the terrain you typically drive through.

I look at this way. It's insurance. You never know when you're really gonna need it and you'll be pissed if you don't have it when you really need it.

X2 what frank said on the ratio.

I'd lock it. I run lunchbox on the highway like its my job no issues. Selectable is ideal but pricey. You would be fine either way. I wouldn't spool it, or lincoln lock it and then plan extensive road trips though. Kinda silly to put a 6.5" lift, 35's, and an 8.8 and not lock it really.

Should I leave the d30 as it is or get a axle upgrade? I'll look into the selectable lockers and 4.88 gears. Thanks guys
