Default Locker gearing question

I am trying to look for built axles to swap into my Jeep. Not in a big hurry however so I am looking for a cheap locker for my 29spline c8.25 rear with stock gears for the meantime. My question is: If I change my mind and decide to stick with my current axles, will the same locker work after I regear to 4.56 or will I have to get a different locker then? I am mainly looking at lunchbox lockers. Thanks

Yes it will since lunchbox lockers don't replace the carrier. That's why lunchbox lockers aren't gear ratio specific. Only spline count specific.

Ok thanks. Thats what Im going to do. Buying a spartan or aussie to get me through on stock gears until the 33s wear out.

From what I understand the 8.25 uses the same carrier from stock (3.07) to 5 point something ratios, so even a non lunchbox style should work. Just gotta worry about spline counts.

But I have a D44 rear, so the 8.25 info isnt fresh in my head.

With lunch box lockers the gear ratio doesn't matter. Just as long as spline count is the same. That's also why a lot of people run them since no carrier break with lunch box as to full lockers
