Default Light bar options?

Hello! Newbie here with a few questions!

I'm looking at getting a roof mounted LED light bar for my cherokee sport. (Factory mounts on top.)

I can't weld, but I like to think I'm a bit handy. My jeep is a DD, but is there anything I should look out for? I like the look of the 'traditional' four round lights on top, or square, but I'm not sure how to wire them up? (Thinking I'll be able to sneak the wire down the rack, into the driver side door and between the weather seal down to under the dash and through a hole in the fire wall.)

Currently looking at this model: http://www.kevinsoffroad.com/cart/xj...-lights-p-693/

I'd like to stay around the $200 dollar range, and this one comes with the lights, which is nice. Good brand? Bad? (I did a search and the other threads didn't have quite what I wanted to know...)

As for wiring it, resister vs fuse? Which is better to not fry the switch?

Thanks for help in advance, hope I'm posting this in the right place : )

That looks like a good deal for a light bar and lights. If your interested, I built my own. https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f59/of...-96890/index2/
Look through the thread for my posts, "Rockhead". I covered materials and method.

You really don't like LEDs, do you?

OP, take a look at MRL Lighting. They have some crazy stuff right now as far as light bars go. But, you seem more interested in mounting one with this post.

Here's another option you could consider, for $185. Bolts to the factory locations and supports a 40" bar.

Don't think I could build one on my own, at least not yet, but kudos!

And those big LED blocks are very, very bright...probably a lot easier to wire up too, but I'm a sucker for the four light vintage look.

I bought some new fog lights as well (Busted out my old ones on a dirt bank.) So instead of the factory mounts that are under the bumper, I think I'm going to stick them on top....do you think that rigid plastic will hold them? Or should I just try and mount them to the metal middle instead?

Or you can run a small light bar mount on the front bumper http://www.detoursusa.com/bumperbrow.php

Yea, really starting to think about doing the front bumper mount...I picked up a pair of new fog lights (round) and want to mount them there. (kept hitting the factory mounts on dirt banks.) So If I have two lights there already...might as well add two more. (It'd be cheaper and easier to wire...)

Been doing a lot of summer work on mine! Took off the door moldings and got the adhesive off, and looks a lot better.

Found some rust, so I've been sanding that down and re-painting...also testing out some POR-15. Anyone else have luck with that?

(I'm getting off topic from the light bar, I know.)

I've used a similar product called Chassis Saver. It works great, but if whatever you're painting with it is rusting from the inside out, expect it to not last very long at all. And that's with any coating.

Don't assume.
I gave the OP a non-LED option because he said he liked the old-school look.

Yea, most of it is just surface rust. When I filed it down, usually came right off. Nothing major, but we'll see how it goes : D

Check out the overhead mount from Olympus Offroad. I'm going with that.
