I know it's hard to "read" sarcasm, but that's all it was. No harm intended to anyone on this forum or otherwise. I appreciate the help y'all.

You could try hood vents, I have seen a large decrease in under hood temp, I can now touch it without feeling like my skin is coming off. The write up is in my signature

Put your electric fan on a toggle switch... that will help. Also make sure your mechanical clutch is working properly.

I can trail ride all day not shutting my rig off, running my e-fan and never get over 210, and that is in summertime. So I know going up and down the highway should be no issue.

I don't think its for noobs, I did it to mine because it does help. I don't however have any real issues. It makes me sit at about 200ish

I have always thought it was moon smoke that this actually worked enough for ppl to notice a difference. Also with a properly working cooling system this "mod" should never be needed.

Keep in mind the 4.0 was designed to run at 210.. so lowering the temp only hurts performance

Promotes engine longevity though, the cooler the engine the longer it will go

There is nothing wrong with venting the engine. What people are whining about is looks. Are we in high school again? Nope. So you wanna act like the head cheerleader and talk bad about how people mod their jeep, go ahead, but it just makes you look like a little *****. 4 wheeling is about individuality, as long as said person isn't putting people in danger, do whatever the hell you want.

I can't believe this sparked so much conversation/debate. It's interesting seeing all the different thoughts.. I'd still say save the hood lift till after addressing the coolant system... As for the look factor of the spacers; it's all about preference To me it's very similar (in the looks department) to wheel spacers... in the functionality department, though, the hood spacers offer more. A lot of times with the wheel spacers, it seems like you loose travel. Of course I'm talking about when people do this on a stock set up, on a lifted rig with big tires it can be necessary...

i've read somewhere that a failing fuel pump would also start casuing it too overheat. dunno, ive got the same prob with over heating, i just crank the heat and roll the windows down. as too raising the hood, to each thier own. next summer (if i havent set it on fire) i'm planning on useing a mopar hood scoop, it'll look goffy, but it's my jeep.

Hood vents are in my very near future actually, about to head to the jy to look for some. And yes this thread definitely got a little out of hand but what the hell who cares. Interesting about the fuel pump though, my gas gauge is way off the two might go together hand in hand.
