Okay so I am getting to the point where I want/need to lift my Jeep. I know the conversation of 3" vs 4.5" is out there but I am kinda visual when it comes to things and I cant buy both and try them on. I would like to see what everyone has, show me some pics, let me know the pros and cons?

My last question does anyone have a 3" and wish they bought a 4.5"?

I had 3". Now I'm at 4.5". Thin gets more expensive at 4.5". It should depend on what kind of riding you do and what size tire you want to run. I also didn't have a problem trimming my fenders so they are hacked up.

A few guys are running the same set up as me:
~4" lift on 33x10.5 KM2's. Tom95YJ and Bbennesse have the same basic set up

It's my daily so I'm not looking to run around on 33" M/T's, but from time to time I like to go trailing. I live in central FL so there are not a lot of good rocky trails as there are muddy sandy swaps. I'm torn because I've seen the 3" on 31s and its a clean looking lift but I also like the more aggressive look of the 4.5" where you can see a little suspension while it sits idle.

So the next question is an SYE necessary on a 4.5 if you don't trail a lot?

Depends on the Jeep. Has nothing to do if you wheel or not. You will probably need one though.

My Jeep works damn well 3.5" Re/teraflex hybrid lift on 33x10.50's trimmed and bump stopped.

I surprise many of my wheeling buddy's with how my rig works. One of the guys I went with last week was dumbfounded when I was flexing just as well as his longarm rubicon. And when I followed them up a waterfall with 3 3' tall ledges. And I have only 1 locker .

Yep they are dented have gouges the rear has peeled up and seeps.

I am trying to convince the wife to let me take advantage of the ruffstuff 20% off sale and pick up a pair or just a rear then get a 4xdoctor gaurd on the front so I don't have to worry about clearance with the oversize tierod I have

I am thinking a transfer case drop would be enough. Most 4.5" lift kits just come with those and no SYE included or mentioned in the install instructions. I would think the manufacturers would add those or suggest them if they were really necessary since that is what they do for a living and it's their reputations.

I'm up for looking at any set up. 3-4.5 is the range I want to stay in but I'm not stuck on any particular brand.
