Lift setup
hey guys, im new to the XJ world and just bought one and I have been reading and searching on some things, and im just looking for some advice. I have a stock 94XJ 4wd 4dr auto. I didn't get a chance to see what gears are in it, or axles or trans. Its sitting at a friend of mines shop getting an inspection right now. But My plans are a 6.5 Long Arm lift from rough country, SYE kit, 33s or 35s Goodyear MT/Rs) not too sure yet, im looking to get as much flex as possible, this will be my DD and weekend rock crawler, no mud. I will be re- gearing for the tires. any advice on changing anything from the lift to get more flex? as in shackles? Im doing this build on as much of a budget as possible, but I don't mind spending a few bucks. Id also like to do a rear locker when I do the gears, nothing crazy I was thinking a lunchbox locker. I plan on doing the lift and all myself, I have did a few lifts in the past, just never had any experience with these XJs. thank for any input!

I would do a lunchbox in front as well, because they are do not effect drivng in 2wd at all. As for lift. The rough country flex joints are known for going bad. I would look into some other long arms. As for the rear If you want 6.5 and good flex, go with a 4in leaf pack with shackle relocation brackets and longer shackles

Really need gears for 35s. 33s will be OK but it will kind of suck still.
Edit: it appears you will be gearing. Good.
Check the rear axle. If you have a d35 throw it in the trash and put a 29spline 8.25 in there.
I'd also lock the front. Check out zoneoffroad for budget lifts. I have a rough country 4.5 in, but the leaves are short so youd need a shackle relocation box or a couple hundred pounds of weight in the back. If you want longarms, there is a vendor on here named seriousoffroad. Check his out.

make a bastard leaf pack from an S10 or dodge van and use a 2" shackle with relocators. I would go 35's with 6.5". why not go 4.5 LA with 35's? lower is better IMO.
don't forget sliders, and bumpers for recovery also.

I cant take credit for building it.
My good buddy Brian has been fabbing up stuff for a while now. Started with roof racks, then short arms, then came the 3 link.
Im actually building his website for him right now..so before too long there will be a site to go to like any other vendor and order directly from there.
I help him out when I can..but my fab skills aren't superb. He is the master-mind.
