And as for the two upper shock bolts where the heads broke off can that be drilled out too?

For those I actually pulled the carpet in the hatch area and cut into the floor. I took good measurements and cut squares right above the shock bolts. I cut them 3 sided only so they "open" and close. So after replacing the shocks you could "close the flap and put the carpet over it and you would never know there is a hole in the floor.
You use nuts and bolts for the shocks. Easily accessable and no more broken shock bolts.

i drilled both of them out, and then i drilled out the broken taps twice. use access panels in the trunk

2-3 hrs maybe. All I did is remove the plastic thats on the floor in the rear of the hatch and the side plastics. Then you fold the carpet over, you dont have to remove it.
