blocks are no good. easily cause axle wrap. I have a 99 and put a rough country 3" series II kit on it. I also went with the full leafs in the back because the stock leaf springs in the back were sagging bad! I also added an adjustable track bar. I got drive line vibrations and you probably will too. So you can do a transfer case drop for $30 or a Slip Yolk Eliminator for $300 if you plan to go higher in the future.

Blocks are bad. Search for ''bastard pack" or AAL, add a leaf. Then consider full leafs, or shakles. Research will be your best bet on this. See what others run.
I've got a few questions, though. What do your leafs look like? A nice 'U' shape, or a 'W' with the axle sinking toward the body?
Have you looked at any kits to see what they include? I run BDS, and its pretty solid. Others have luck with other kits. Again, just a bit of research will take you a long way.
Moved to advanced techfrom OEM.

Shackles and spacers are your best bet, cheap and pretty easy

I have RC's 2" AAL/spacer lift and love it. everyone complains that aal doesn't last long but for me thats fine. I plan on using aal as a temporary lift until I have the money for a full leaf pack. If $ is your problem then I would suggest that. but if you can go straight for the full leaf then do that and go 3"
