Default Lift Heights and extra components

Trying to get a feel for when you need more than a lift kit.
What I mean si
1-2 in lift - seems most stock stuff works, no need to TC Drop or lowered Pittman Arm.
3-4.5 - unsure? Do you need longer Control Arms?
4.5+ i am sure you get into a lot of needs...

any insight would be great...

Anything over 4 inches is when you need to do a lot of work and extras. What kind of lift are you looking into?

1-2 pretty safe on stock stuff
3-4.5 people run stock arms on a 3 inch but once you get closer to 4-4.5 adjustable arms are recomended(or long arms)
4.5+ alot more stuff is need like sye, shims, long arms or drop brackets, steering upgrades. also keep in mind the higher you go the bigger the tire your going to want to run which will lead to you wanted to regear and get a locker and it just goes on and on. i would suggest searching alot and figure out how deep you want to go into the build

I am not 100% decided.
3 inches - 5.5 inches.
Currently wondering can I run a 4.5 leaf pack in the rear and 3 in springs up front. Is it chaos to mix and match?

lift blocks are not a viable way to lift an xj at any lift height or tire size
7.5" is an obnoxious amount of lift. completely unnecessary
and the rear sway bar is useless

X2 lift blocks are retarded and 7.5" would be cool if all you did was mud bogs.

Does anyone stagger lifts front and rear?
Like 4.5 in the rear and 3.5 in the front?

i dont know anything about staggering lifts but i will say that anything over 3inches you should plan on an sye with a drive shaft and expect about 400-500 bucks for that. If you do a reputable kit anyway.

Changes the tail shaft out of your transfer case. That way you can run a driveshaft like what xj's have in.the front. Allows more driveline angle, without driveline vibrations. Also depending on your lift size, it prevents the rear slip yoke from pulling out at full droop
