Default Led taillight conversion

anyone have this problem. I bought metal taillight boxes off eBay and led taillights off amazon. I wired them up like usual and stepped on the brake. Brake light comes on but both the front grille marker lights and side fender lights turn on every time I hit the brake pedal also. Turn signals work like normal when I hit them. If I pull the light switch bottom out to park light or full headlight the system works like normal. I also put in a led flasher unit.

Default Turn signal wire

I am guessing even though the taillights have a red wire for brake and white for turn signal. When the red has power you are getting power feedback on the white wire. This would be easy to test with a test light or volt meter.

You can prevent this by putting a diode on your turn signal wire in your tail lights. A diode only allows electricity to flow one way. Just need to make sure the diode is rated for enough amps. I Guessing the turn signals and tail lights are fused at 15 AMPs so a 15amp diode should be perfect. Here is a link to Amazon.

make sure u solder it in the right direction. The silver strip goes towards your tail light and it just needs to be wired on the turn signal wire.

Yupp sounds like feedback. Since you are effectively getting rid of the turn signal light (combining with the brake) it is able to run through the front markers.

I tried the diodes and because there cheap LEDs and connected weird inside the light itself,it didn’t work. If I had quality LEDs that should have worked. Unfortunately because i cut the boxes to fit these lights. I had use the cheapo lights .I went another route and it worked. I bought 2 tekonsha 119130 trailer light converters and they wired up pretty easy. Worked the first try.

Sorry the Diodes didn't work.. But good thinking on the Trailer Converters. I will keep that in mind as I plan to do this conversion with some custom housing.
