Hi all,
New here and not finding this the easiest site to use. So be gentle and feel free to point me in the right direction! I tried to post about my new project earlier but I guess the post was rejected by the administrators because I can't find it.😕 Maybe I had it in the wrong location?

Anyway, has anyone welded a CB radio bracket to the ceiling in their XJ? How thin is the metal of the roof? If I cut away part of the headliner would this be possible or would I have to remove the entire headliner? Thanks!

Theres actually mounting points under the headliner for the factory overhead console that you could mount to. Thatbwould be much more preferable to welding a mount up there especially if you decide to go to a different radio or step up to HAM or GMRS later.

You could also run a plate between the sun visor mounts to mount the mount to.

Heres mine screwed to the IR keyless entry reviever housing.

i have mine mounted between the visors. i have the shorter visors and a replacement headliner that was from an xj with overhead consul, so it has a hole right where i have the bracket screwed to the channel at the windshield. i have a large cobra radio.
