Question Jeep Into Honda

So, Recap.

rear drive shaft went boom

and now im wondering how much harm it would do to turn my jeep into a honda for the drive home,

the sheriff came by and said i cant leave my jeep infront of my buddies house, he called it an eye sore... so i got "upset" and decided to bad mouth the officer

long story short, i dont have AAA and nor do i have the money for a tow...

How long if at all could i drive my jeep as a FWD before it goes boom?

wait, are u askin if you can drive ur jeep with just the front drive shaft in 4WD right? if you are, then the answer is yes, but you got to have a lot of ATF and pull over and stop quite often to put more in, cuz once you pull the rear DS, all the fluid is guna come out

Pull the rear drive shaft put it in 4 hi and go, I've had to do it. Just don't make a habit out of it and turn a little wider than normal.

I've done it before with my old Jimmy, had a NP203 in it.
Busted a rear u-joint and pulled the shaft and away I went home in 4x4 HI I did have to listen to the xfercase chain asit slipped a little anyway and it wasn't happy.
But it made it home.
As long as your not locked in the front diff just drive it normal.

the big size gatorade bottle cap fits over the rear output seal nicely, just tape it on there with whatever tape you have, it wont leak. drive it home

Go for it. Just don't make a habit of it (not that you would) it can be bad for the chains in the tcase. I had a locker go bang and had to drive mine three hours with no rear drive shaft.

Does the front driveshaft not fit on the rear? If you have a SYE the driveshaft should be able to swap unless you rear one is a lot longer than your front.

^ This is the best advice ever ! (Sarcasm)

OP I wouldn't try driving the Jeep without the rear shaft unless you have a SYE, As others have stated you will dump all of the fluid from the hole in your tail shaft housing. Which could result it destroying the Transfer case. I would see if you could borrow cash from someone for a Tow or see if you can park it in on your friends property.

I'm going to assume your young because you had mouthed off to a L.E.O. Judging from some of the vehicles you have owned, An currently own in your signature would lead me to assume you have some $ because building up cars is not cheap and FD's are not exactly the cheapest cars to build. I don't understand how someone would not have $100 for a tow, Oh wait you have a FD RX7.
