Default Jeep Cherokee steering Upgrade for competition

Hi,

I'm close to finished my XJ build. The XJ is build for some competition. Its a mix from trail and trophy, but no hardcore race. For the competition I like to ride, the XJ ve to be street legal.

How important is it, to upgrade the steering? Maybee your guys ve some tipps for me which parts I ve to buy to be safe.

Actually I run a upgraded D30 in front with axle sleevs, ox locker, upgraded axle shafts and an upgraded drive shaft, JKS trackbar - D35 with Ox Locker, upgraded axle shafts in the rear. 265/70-17 on JK beadlocks.

Thank you.

The stock steering link that runs between the two tires is weak and bends easily, a cheap upgrade is the ZJ tie rod swap.

My XJ came with Rustys Off road steering. It's pure beef. It eats rocks all day.
I would have never bought it but am sure glad it came on my Jeep.

For competition, don't rule out the StinkyFab all aluminum setup.
A bit more expensive than some of the other options but it is purpose built for JeepSpeed prerunning and bashing rocks at 60mph

They have some torture test videos on Youtube that are pretty fun to watch

EDIT:
Their weld-in spring support brackets are definitely a good idea if you plan to run trails "at speed" (and maybe a truss kit for the front Dana 30 even though you are sleeved)

Yup, those are the guys.

I am running their motor + trans mounts and am very happy.
Great medium between harder poly bushings and rubber, they use a "proprietary" poly bushing with a durometer (hardness) rating close to that of rubber.

I'm running Cavfab's crossover steering. Now made of solid steel, but i'm running their original version 1.5x.25" DOM tubing

Wow, looks massive to. Can you change your ball joints without buy a complete new drag link or tie rod?

Does "Stinky Fab" still exist? I wrote them a E-Mail but they dont return one.

They definitely are around, but they are a pretty small shop. I made one purchase and it went off without too many issues.
You could try hitting them up on Facebook or giving them a call depending on the time difference.

The CavFab Crossover steering is really nice too. So is the Rusty's Offroad.
Honestly, for slower speed crawling i would probably lean towards steel DOM which are a bit more similar. Racing type stuff aluminum all the way

I'm assuming by "ball joints" you're talking about the heims that bolt to the knuckles. Yes they are Ruffstuff heims and can be ordered by the bundles if wanted. Have to drill out your knuckles and pitman arm out to 5/8" which we did wit ha good cordless drill. I've had mine for going on 3 years soon I believe and no issue other than paint
