Default jeep with 3 inch blocks-want to replace blocks-need info

i know there are lift and tire sections but nobody has responded on them in a while.sorry to post new one just looking for answers.i have recently bought a 87 cherokee limited.i believe the guy told me he had put on rancho coils and a 3 inch block in the rear on stock shocks..the leafs are flat,im looking to keep it lifted..i was told to just replace the shocks and run it.i dont do much mudding hardly ever actually (i have kids and its my daily driver)..i heard the 3 inch blocks arent safe, what should or do i need to do,i dont want it to be unsafe for my kids..any info would help

Throw some 3.5" leafs on from any of the main lift manufacturers. Rough country, Rubicon Express, etc. Its a Direct replacement, and you'll get rid of those stupid blocks.

Another option is to get extended shackles. I know they make 2in shackles, you could get them for cheap.

No blocks at all. They could crack or cause leaf spring problems down the road. You can go new full leaf packs or AAL's and shackles. Best bet will be full leaf packs. Will settle but won't sag over time.

True that. Well first make sure you are at 3inches up front, because those coils might have settled. If you are at 2.5 or 2 than just get 2in shackles and call it a day. Measure from the top of the axle tube to the frame . Stock should be 6.75in I think, but research it to make sure. If you end up at 3inches then: If you want to spend $300.00 get full 3in leafs. Or get an add a leaf and RC shackles that have two holes to mount for either 1.5 or 2in of your choosing. That should run you about half price. Youre welcome.

Your local autozone should have these... they are listed as lowering shackles but work just as well for lift shackles... They may also have larger ones.. they're basically a 2" (maybe a little more) lift shackle.

the blocks are not the saftey issue its the wore out factory leafs that are getting a new leaf pack and adjustable shackle for fine tuneing safest fix then sell the blocks recover some funds ...its that simple...

Right. In that case it will not be level, thats why if thats the case you either need an add a leaf on top of adding the shackle, or just new 3in leafpack. No other way around it. Toss the blocks in the weeds ASAP.
