Thanks. I bought my pop-up camper from a guy in Long Island, are there open beaches for off-roading around there?
The only issue that I've had with the air intake is the sleeve that goes through the hood warped when it got really hot. I've wrapped it now with a piece of foil backed insulation tape. Somewhere on line I've seen a metal sleeve like that, maybe I'll replace it.

Can you take a pic under the hood of where you cut through the hood?
Thanks

Sure, I can do that. Give me a min. Here you go. I tried to get angles that show the positioning well. Avoiding the sheet metal hood support was important to me.

Not my cup of tea as I prefer the additional height gained by a snorkle, but very creative!

Now that you have run it for awhile, have you noticed any issues with water? Anything else you would change if you did it again? Thanks

Thanks. Still, the only thing that I will change is the sleeve that goes through the hood. I will switch from plastic to metal. No! Absolutely no water issues. This modification is by far my favorite. Well! I enjoyed doing the locker, two lifts, bumpers, light bar, and other interior modifications too.

Finally did this too my XJ. Modified it a little so it was easier for me to install. I used the 3" spectre air hose to replace the gutter parts. Love it so far.

I like what I see. Nice job. I haven't changed my sleeve to a metal one yet but it is on the radar.

Here is an update on my J8 inspired hood scoop.
I have changed the sleeve that goes through the hood from plastic (melted) to metal. The metal sleeve is the same size but tappers down a little. Because of the tapper I trimmed, flipped, and glued a 1 1/4 inch plastic rain gutter spacer on top. This fits into the new sleeve very nicely. Here are a couple of pics.

With the peace on the hood flipped. Do you have problems with water or does the air filter still stay dry . I really like your mod. I want to do mine like that but I waited to see what kinda changes you would need to do to it if any.
