Default Issue that involves CC's Help and this is not about removal.

Ok so I have just replaced my head with an alabama head on my 01 xj and I want to run headers to open up my exhaust a little. Problem...I have 2 scrubber cats and 1 normal cat. Cali jeep emissions = gayness all over.

Fixes I have thought up -

1. take the manifold off install headers and install 2 new high flow scrubber cats so the computer doesnt freak out due to the 4 o2 sensors. This would make everything 2.5" from exhaust port back, and keep the same set up.

^^^Would the new cats being high flow effect the current o2 set up? Would I have to get new 02 sensors and let the computer adjust?

2. I live in PA now so legally I can remove the 2 scrubber cats...If I do this I will need to cap the 4 o2 sensors. PROBLEM - my large 3rd cat has no o2 sensors. So if I go this route I will have a LEGAL set up but no accurate readings on how the parts are in the exhaust system, so possibly making it illegal and I don't want that!

3. Get a matching computer from a 49 state legal 01 XJ and cap the 4 o2 sensors and just run 2 new sensors to my 3rd / becoming only cat...

Help!

I was thinking #3 would be good and after that is done then I can still run the 2.5" exhaust/headers down with no issues. Does the computer have outputs/inputs for sensors like that?

If your Vehicle left the factory with a Cat(s) it is illegal to romove the cat(s), by Fed Law. Some states might not have the same restrictions, but Fed Law trumps.

If they go bad and need replaced, law requires the vehicle to pass emissions/deq testing. So if I replace said faulty parts with new parts and "pass" my states emissions testing, then I am good to go.

Default Sad this thread died

So I never got 100% accurate answers or ideas on other things to do from this thread. Anyone else have ideas?

Someone recently mentioned to me that I should just call a place like banks and ask them what to do since they make the aftermarket parts.
