I have an opportunity to pick up this steering set up dirt cheap. I've seen some reviews but want to see some more modern time opinions. Who runs it? Any issues? This is heim steering and it would be going into my new 99 DD.
Thanks!

You can add a grade 8 washer on top of your misalignment that is larger than the ball. They also sell safety misalignments. This prevents the heim from coming off the bolt if it were to fail.

Any particular reason for your assumption of this? Yes Hiems wear out quicker that TREs but that's no reason why you can't DD on them. I and many others did it for years.
This may be true for your specific state however, where I live it is not illegal.
However, the OP would need to find out for his state
All this being said it's my belief that the IRO OTK kit is the best bolt on kit for the XJ. It goes OTK, keeps the Track Bar in line with Drag Link, is pure beef, and is bolt on. I ran it for 5 years before doing my axle swap.
