Just ordered the 8" lift from iron rock offroad with the adjustable long arms. Just wondering if anyone had tryed it out or knew someone who has.

 

I was thinking about getting one. This guy has one but he doesn't post or talk through pms. I couldn't get ahold of him for details. Other then that, I haven't heard much about them. They are the best price by far from what I have seen.

 

I wanted one...they look like they make some bada$$ stuff. I have their adj trac bar and its pretty wicked. I think im gonna order there long arm kit (already have a lift). Let us know how it is once you get it. Do a build thread??

 

IMO 8" is huge, with that much lift you are getting way to tippy!

 

agreed ^ bigger is not always better. If you had wider axles though i would say go for it.

 

I've got the adjustable IRO 3-link on mine, but I'm sitting at 4.5". They're beefy; nothing but good things to say here.

 

I think the IRO kit is a great setup for being a radius arm setup.

 

S14....have you installed the kit yet? If so, how do you like it?

 

also interested s14 - does that top joint bind up at all? That setup is defiantly different - not quite a 3-link not quite a radius arm

 

I have the nonadjustable longarms, all I have to say is good things about IRO they have great customer service and there products are beefy.

 

Yeah, I've had it under the Jeep for about 6 months now. I love it. The drive-ability of the Jeep was so much more comfortable on the road and it flexes like crazy; just need to get some longer shocks. I was a little concerned of the mounts to the body but I have YET to find anyone that has had an issue and mine are doing fine.

When you say "top link" are you referring to the y-link piece with the caster/pinion adjustment bracket? If so, I haven't had any issues with it; no binding of any sort. It's relationship to the axle is fixed and the JJ is what allows the entire link to rotate with the axle. I've not seen any contact with the crossmember and I'm not even close to maxing out that joint range.

Here's a picture of them under the Jeep, for what ever that's worth. You'll notice I cut the standard mounts off the body since I'm not a big lift. Apparently 4.5" is the minimum requirement for this setup.



Here is a picture of when I overhauled the front axle. This would be like unrestricted droop, with my shocks disconnected, so you can see how the entire housing rotates with the link.

 

I ordered the kit with hope to get by with my 36" iroks for this year and then going with a dana 44 and a ford 9" over the winter. I should have enough width for now with the offset mickey thompsons that are on there until the full widths are underneath.

 

I started a build thread a few weeks ago, but wish I would have started it last year when I bought the jeep. I will post the pics and a review on the Iron Rock lift once it's on.

honestly, i really advise against going that high. Your center of gravity will be so high in the air it will actually prevent you from attacking large off-camber obstacles without flopping it. You certainly don't need that much to clear 36s. Trim a bit and you can easily fit those tires under the 6.5" or 5.5" kit.

 

What is that limited by? bind in the joints or what? Im not understanding cause when I put my claytons in I dropped the axle to work on other links and wasnt paying attention, dropped beyond the point that it pulled the front DS linkage apart into 2 pieces. Axle pushed forward ~ 1". I dont see what else would limit it beside the DS
