Default Installing RC Fixed Lower Control Arms

Hello All,

I was wondering if you can give me a few pointers on installing my new Rough Country LCA's in my 2WD 5spd? My ride is a bit rough and want to make it smoother on and off road. It's my DD and don't do a ton Off Roading.

Im on a budget and bought bent fixed, not adjustable. Will I need to take it to an alignment shop after installing??

I sit at 3" right now and plan on going 4.5", (I already have 1.5 spacer & 1.5"/2"Shackles in box) once I save enough for some Bilstein 5100's. Also will I need a longer Pitman Arm once I lift to 4.5"? I'm currently running a Rusty's Offroad Drop Pitman. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers!

Great thread, im doing a similar improvement on my 3” lift as well. Im not sure about the pitman arm but you may want to consider either sway bar disco’s or sway bar link drop bracket. You might also need to consider a SYE or H&T at that height. Im going to either 4.5” or 6” with possibly new shocks and spring in the front and 3” leafs (currently have) and adjustable shackels in the back (not trying to hijack).

I will follow this thread, good questions so far.

Hey Thanks! Right now I am not running my sway bar or disco's. My car seems to be ok without them. BUT, once I go to 4.5" I plan on upgrading to a ZJ sway bar, disco's and ZJ tie Rods (Suposed to be beefier). As far as for the SYE, I wont be needing it since my XJ is a 2WD. I hear I should be fine with new shackles. But we'll find out. Yikes!

What is a "H&T"?

Cheers!

Oh, skipped over that part about the 2 wheel drive… come to think of it, I always assumed that the vibes were felt in the rear drive shaft, interesting. I obviously have some reading to do on SYE’s haha.

Anyway, the H&T – hack and tap, is a cheaper alternative to buying SYE kit that accomplishes the same thing, I believe is essentially uses JY parts

2wd has no transfer case, therefore a longer drive shaft and less extreme driveline angles.

You don't need the drop pitman until you get above 4.5"....I am at 5.5" and still running the stock pitman arm. Sometimes they create more bumpsteer and other issues than they fix.
