install it myself, or take it to a shop?
Congrats on the win! What was the contest? I have the MC springs on mine and love the ride/flex available. Wish I could afford the upper and lowers with the bushings, ah well, future mod. Give it a go yourself installing the kit.
let the shop do it $450 is cheap for all that work w/ alignmt. think about , stuck bolts, broken shock mount bolts, etc. etc. the time involved ,do you have air tools ? its def. a piece of work. did it once , wont do it anymore.

These blocks are everywhere around here since all of our houses are elevated using them as pilings.
Whatever you do, do not use concrete blocks.
For the $450 the shop charges, you could get some jack stands, an impact wrench, etc. I'd rather buy more tools than pay a shop. I vote do it yourself! I borrowed a car from my in-laws while I was putting my lift on, and they didn't mind. They weren't even mad when some idiot in a BMW rear-ended their car when I was driving to work one morning.

I use 8" x 8" or 6" x 6" solid wooden blocks under jack stands, two blocks per stand, each block one foot minimum. On a level surface! These blocks are everywhere around here since all of our houses are elevated using them as pilings. Whatever you do, do not use concrete blocks.
