I've learned not to trust anyone to do an alignment on my XJ other than myself. Tighten everything to the specified torque and rotate your tires. It sounds like you've done almost everything, so you have to be narrowing it down.

Damn, son.. It gets annoying when you've checked and rechecked and still no progress.. But, what size lift and tires, do you have sway bar, have you checked to make sure everything's tightened to spec? Did (the shop) reuse bushings? All motor and tranny mounts good?

Just trying to think of anything random.. Good luck!!

What about your sway bar links? Or any bushings on the sway bar? I'd look at that first. That's usually a good place to find death wobble.

Well thats your problem. Put your sway bars back on and you wont have death wobble. Sway bars eliminate body roll. Without them, you get death wobble.

That's not entirely true. Sure it may help, but running without sway bars isn't necessarily a cause of death wobble. There are a lot of people
On this forum, myself included, that have ran without sway bars with no death wobble.

Now believe it or not a big cause of death wobble is tire(s) being out of round. Do you know anybody you could swap tires with just for testing purposes?

I dont have sway bars on my jeep now. And i get no death wobble. But before i did my axle swap, i had horrible death wobble without them. But if he doesnt have them on, it would be worth it to put them back on and try running it with them and see if it solves his problem.

tires out of round might make death wobble more prone but def not the cause. The shifting of worn out or loose suspension mounting components is the biggest thing and the base thing. Mainly the track bar.

Thats like saying it needs a sway bar or steering stabilizer. both those just mask the problem.

There use to be a video of an axle getting death wobble that was floating around here. Cannot find it anymore. It really shows what is going on.

I have a friend that works at a local off road shop. He says they get brand new jeeps, and dodges in for a lift, new tires, rims, etc all the time. Despite all the suspension components, and vehicle being brand new, every now and again they'll get the vehicle back with death wobble. More times then not they will have one of those brand new tires be out of round. Once they replace the tire the death wobble goes away.

I'm not saying in this case it's for sure an out of round tire, but it's definitely something that shouldn't be overlooked if everything else has been checked.

Not true. It can help cause it but is far down on the list that it comes from most often.
