ID'ing necessary shock size (another shock thread!)
Alright I apologize for yet another thread about what shocks size one should get but after reading quite extensively I have still come up with some questions.
I have an 88 XJ with 3.5 in full leafs in the back (which got me 3.25 on one side and almost 4 on the other it seems, ill have to trouble shoot later) and ZJ V8 coils and 2 in spacers in the front (which netted me about 2.5-2.75 in). My goal is to eventually get the front at least level or higher than the back so I am going to buy 4 shocks for the 3-4.5 in lift range.
My first question is how specific does the height have to match? Some people said you had to measure buy the distance between shock mounts and perform calculations, others just said pick one...
My second is if I can use these tall shocks on the shorter front lift until I get it adjusted, or do I need to find shorter ones for the time being?
Im willing to put some decent money down to get a smooth ride for both DD and weekend warrior kinda thing, so I was thinking bilstein, OME, or zone offoad as I heard various reviews. Thoughts? I found these and seemed like a good deal....?
