i got a RE 3.5 kit that comes with springs, LCAs, sway bar connects and Full leaf springs. im goint to lift my chero this friday and saturday. i don't have a coil compressor so if anyone can please tell me how to get the coils out without one that would be awesome.and i didn't pbblast anything since i live in Florida and i thought i didn't need it.... i also have a couple questions:

-what is the fastest time you think a lift can go on by someone, by them selves, without a lot of fancy lift machines and specialty tools? I'm working in the driveway with the tools i got..

-i need to install a SYE and was wondering if i should install it first..i plan on using a stock rear DS as a front DS and was wondering if a stock DS would fit on a stock height cherokee..i plan on putting the lift on the cherokee right after but just incase time runs out..i need ride to school and work.

-is there a specific order on what to take off and put on?


ANY tips whatsoever on what to do, what is the easiest way, which side to do first, ANYTHING would be greatly appreciated. thanks!

it's going to take quite some time by hand. is there anyone who can help you? 2 people makes it go pretty quick

you don't need a coil compressor. you will need a few jack stands and a floor jack
1. jack up front end. place jack stands under frame rails behind lower control arm mounts
2. remove tires
3. lower onto jack stands. front axle will hang at full droop
4. remove sway bar/ anything preventing necessary droop
5. remove lower control arm on 1 side, jack up opposite side of the axle, coil will be easy to pop out
6. install coil
7. jack up the side of the axle with the new coil on it. let opposite end of the axle hand at droop
8. jack axle up and down until new control arm fits into place. hand tighten
9. repeat for opposite side
10. tires on, lower down, tighten it up
11. install sway bar

you have it backwards. you will need to use a front driveshaft in the rear. since you will not necessarily need an SYE at 3.5" that project can probably wait until next weekend. its going to take quite a bit of time to install all these parts by hand

what are you going to do about shocks

I recently put a 3" lift on mine with new leafs. Took me and a friend about 7 hours. Neither of us have ever done a lift before and just used basic hand tools. It really wasnt that bad. Just make sure you PB Blast every bolt that needs to be taken out for the lift every day for a week before the install. Also invest in a 1/2" drive torque wrench, metric and standard sockets with at least a 24" breaker bar to crack the nuts loose.

The pb blast on every bolt days before can save you a lot of headaches.

there was a guy i met that had the same RE lift as me and said that he couldn't even drive it without the sye

what should i do if an upper shock bolt breaks on me?

Break the weld-nut off the top of the upper shock mount and fish a new nut in there with a magnet wand thing or a piece of wire and run a new upper mount bolt into that nut. Use ANTI-SEIZE on the new nut and bolt! Now that I'm thinking about it, I use anit-seize on just about every bolt that goes back into my XJ. There are also upper shock mount relocators that make life easy when changing out shocks. Something like this: http://www.detoursusa.com/xjstm.php.
